ROCKING PLATE
Vapor pressure measurements of crude oil cannot be performed within a reasonable equilibrium time without stirring. Since a piston based measuring cell cannot include a stirrer of any design, the instrument is placed on the rocking plate to shake the sample inside the measuring cell. With this method, the equilibrium time is between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the V/L ratio.


FLOATING PISTON CYLINDER (FPC)
Crude oil, especially life crude, is very sensitive to loss of high volatiles and shall be introduced into the measuring cell under pressure. The crude oil shall be contained in a pressurized floating piston cylinder, with built-in manual stirring capabilities.


GRABNER INSTRUMENTS' new Floating Piston Cylinder preserves the integrity of crude oil samples. This cylinder was specifically designed for the new method for vapor pressure of crude oil . However, this sample cylinder is also ideal for many other oil industry (ASTM VPCRx) applications.

MINIVAP ON-LINE
MINIVAP ON-LINE is the first on-line application of GRABNER INSTRUMENTS. It is based on the measuring principle of MINIVAP VPSH in a nitrogen purged explosion-proof cabinet. Vapor pressure of gasoline, crude oil, and LPG and Butane are determined on-line according to the new VPx, VPCRx and LPG-Mini procedures. The vapor to liquid ratio temperature T(V/L=20) is determined parallel to the vapor pressure of gasoline (ASTM D 5188). Three different sample streams can be monitored alternately with automatic switching between the streams. A sample conditioning system is installed below the measuring unit and includes a fast sample loop with a flow indicator and a self cleaning cyclon filter. A pressure regulator with minimum dead volume regulates the high pressure of the product line to the pressure for the measuring unit.
